About the Maker
Best, Ron
"I became interested in knives when I was about 7 or 8 years old. I would grind Dad’s wrenches up trying to make a knife. Many years ago, I made a meat cleaver for my dad and enjoyed the process so much that I decided to intensify the pursuit. I have always loved to work with my hands using metal or wood. I was contacted by a collector who wanted an integral knife. I made the knife for him and it turned out great. I don’t use CNC machinery when making my knives. In the year 2007, I became a probationary member of The Knife Maker’s Guild. While at my first Knifemakers’ Guild Show, I won the prestigious W.W. Cronk Award with a D guard fighter with ivory handle. I work very hard to construct my knives and I perfect my knife making skills with the finest materials available and adorn them with engraving of Master Jere Davidson. Later, I received my second Cronk award at the 2008, 25th and “final” year of the W. W. Cronk Art Knife Show in Florida with a black lip pearl fighter. These awards have been instrumental in my continued growth as a knife maker. I always work very hard to obtain non-ordinary construction and I place the utmost importance on perfection on my knife making skills."
