Shipping Policy

Any customers with separate shipping and billing addresses are subject to follow up contact. If no contact can be made, your order will be cancelled. Please understand that this policy is to protect our customers from fraud and theft.

Shipping costs are calculated automatically when you checkout. Orders to P.O. Boxes or military addresses require shipping via USPS.

Orders placed by 3:00pm EST will be shipped the same day. All orders shipped USPS (including Express) may take an additional business day to process and ship. We strongly recommend shipping UPS if you need guaranteed delivery by a certain date.

For our international customers, you must call or email after ordering to arrange for duties/customs and declarations before we will ship your order. USPS Express International shipments with declarations greater than $200, incur an additional $15.00 fee for postage/insurance.

Overview

This folder features Scott's patented self-lock mechanism. The self-lock gets its name from the fact that the blade locks itself in position; it is the only moving part besides a spring and ball bearing detent. When the checkered surface of the release is depressed the base of the blade shifts upward and unlocks. In the locked position pressure on the cutting edge will not unlock it, but in fact locks it more securely with a binding action. The lock mechanism is contained within the base of the blade and recessed into the front bolsters. It is packed with grease and sealed against the entry of dirt.

The blade and fittings are high polish finish. Great looking ironwood scales. Excellent fit and finish. Shows very light table scuffing on fittings.

"I was born in North Dakota, but spent most of my youth in Illinois. I went west to attend college; and after graduating and a stint in the army, I returned to Utah State University to pursue a Master’s degree in biology. It was there in 1970 I began making knives as a hobby. It was difficult to get started back then, as there were no books on knifemaking and very few makers around to get advice from. I teamed up with Steve Mullin and we went north to see Bernard Sparks in Dingle, Idaho. Bernie was one of the original custom knifemakers and a founding member of the Guild. He pointed us in the right direction, showed us what a belt sander was, and we went back to Logan to construct one. For the next few years we made knives either full or part time depending on what other employment was available. In 1976 Steve and I bought adjoining pieces of land in North Idaho, built log homes on them and became professional knifemakers. Our first shop was built of logs. We eventually outgrew it and in 1983 I sold my half to Steve and built a shop of my own nearby where I work to this day."
