The Smithsonian Bowie is a replica of the famous Bowie knife of a century ago, similar to type displayed in the Smithsonian.This piece dates from 1953-1962. This highly optioned model has double brass guard, scalloped brass collar, and old style scalloped brass butt cap with ivory handle. Handle has engraving plate inset. Exquisite piece. Includes original Heiser brown button sheath. Good condition: Numerous scratches/marks on blade, handle, and bolsters; protective coating on ivory is a bit yellowed and chipping in some places. Ivory is in tact with no significant cracks. Blade Steel: High Carbon Tool Steel
