Shipping Policy

Any customers with separate shipping and billing addresses are subject to follow up contact. If no contact can be made, your order will be cancelled. Please understand that this policy is to protect our customers from fraud and theft.

Shipping costs are calculated automatically when you checkout. Orders to P.O. Boxes or military addresses require shipping via USPS.

Orders placed by 3:00pm EST will be shipped the same day. All orders shipped USPS (including Express) may take an additional business day to process and ship. We strongly recommend shipping UPS if you need guaranteed delivery by a certain date.

For our international customers, you must call or email after ordering to arrange for duties/customs and declarations before we will ship your order. USPS Express International shipments with declarations greater than $200, incur an additional $15.00 fee for postage/insurance.

Layaway Information

Layaway Policies

We offer a layaway plan on select products so you may pay for your order over a period of 60 days. Products that are eligible for layaway will show "Layaway Available: Yes" on the product page.

Here's how it works:

The total amount of the order excluding shipping, tax, or fees is divided into three (3) equal payments. The first payment is due with the order, the second payment is due 30 days later, and the final payment is due 60 days after the order.

There is a $15 non-refundable fee for layaway orders. This fee is added to the first payment along with the shipping and any tax. The first payment is made when the order is placed.

Example: Your order total is $300 plus $12.75 shipping and handling. If you select the layaway option, your payments would be:

  • $127.75 (1/3 of purchase = $100 + $15 layaway fee + $12.75 shipping)
  • $100.00 (1/3 of purchase = $100)
  • $100.00 (1/3 of purchase = $100)

If your initial payment is made by credit card, we will automatically process the 2nd and 3rd payments at the appropriate time using the same credit card information. You will be reminded via email that a payment will be charged. If you need to change this for any reason, please contact us.

For payments made other than credit card, payment must be received within seven (7) days of the due date or the order is subject to cancellation. You will receive a reminder via email that a payment is due.

If you wish to complete payment early and have your order shipped, you may contact us at any time during the 60 day period. There is no penalty for prepayment.

Additional products may be added to a layaway order without penalty. A new payment schedule will be calculated based on when additional products are added.

Cancellations of layaway orders are subject to a restocking/processing fee of 10% of the order total (not including tax and shipping costs). This restocking fee is in addition to the $15 non-refundable layaway fee.

Overview

The concept behind our newest collaboration with Winkler Knives began a couple years ago in the backcountry. Our resident hard goods expert, Jason, was testing the limits of a high end custom hawk (specifically designed as a weapon) in alternative ways to determine the scope of its versatility and its shortcomings as a tool. From wood processing to driving tent stakes to food preparation, he was impressed with its initial usefulness and saw the opportunity to modify a weapon originally intended for the Special Operations Community into a utility tool for lightweight backpacking. Combining the attributes of multiple tools and compressing it into a compact package, we worked closely with Daniel Winkler to introduce the Winkler Combat Axe LT TAD Edition.


Features:
  • The shape of the handle is designed to provide comfort while minimizing weight and maximizing power. Its fully tapered skeletonized tang increases carry-ability (a plus for those concerned with a low load out factor) and provides a more neutral weight to increase striking power without sacrificing recovery time. We chose to integrate Winkler’s signature palm swell because it allows the user to choke up on the handle for better manipulation of the blade. Lastly, a further emphasized swell of the butt provides security against losing your grip during a heavy swing.
  • A sharpened inside edge makes it difficult to choke up close to the head of the axe, so for this iteration, we removed the edge to make a safer platform when using the palm swell. This alteration also allows you to hang the axe for easy storage.
  • We designed the blade to sweep more than a traditional hawk so that the user can fluidly maneuver the tool with increased control, safety and leverage for close-up work.
  • The open front, felt-lined Kydex scabbard is incredibly fast and quiet. This carry position allows you to draw forward, towards the front of the sheath and away from your body. The sheath also comes with nylon belt hangers and three strategically placed hollow pins for modular carry options.

Daniel Winkler began making knives in 1975 and became a fulltime bladesmith in 1988. He earned accreditation as a Master Bladesmith from the American Bladesmith Society in 1993. Winkler’s focus on Early American weaponry led to his making knives and axes for the motion picture "Last Of The Mohicans".. Winkler Knives is a limited production company that custom manufactures a diverse line of high performance edged tools. It was established in response to requests from within the SOF Community for specialized breaching tools and has become widely acclaimed for its no frills approach to tactical and rescue operations.
