About the Maker

Lofgren, Claes

Claes Lofgren was born in 1976 in Eksjö, Sweden He began making knives in the year 2000 and five months after making his first knife alone he decided to send his fifth knife to the big competition in Ludvika, where he managed to win the first prize in his chosen category! After that he has won several awards in the Nordic Championship and the Knife Expo in Los Angeles. Claes' knives are daring and his designs are a little adventurous and extreme, they are always close to a level being called pieces of art. He uses some of the finest materials available such as fossil bones, fossil Ivory and especially artifacts from the northern hemisphere.

Lofgren, Thomas

Thomas was born in1949 in Eksjo, Sweden. He started to make knives in the 80's. Roughly from the year 2000, Thomas's involvement became quite a lot more important than before, in part because of the interest for knife making developed by his son Claes. He recently wrote a book on ""Making Sheath for a Nordic Stile Knife"". The book is now translated and published in French and German. All Thomas's knives are unique as, he introduces many different elements to obtain each time a different piece. In the last years he turned even more towards high-quality materials, to produce more exclusive models. Together with Claes he is regularly participating in the Knife Expo of Pasadena, near Los Angeles, and to the SICAC in Paris, Messer Macher Messe in Soligen, Scandinavian Knifemakers Guild show in Helsinki, Knife week in Ludvika.
