Overview
This Applegate Fairbairn Fighting Knife made by TJ Yancey was the property of Albert Applegate, Rex's cousin. It has a satin finished 154 CM stainless steel spear point DE blade (circa 1980) with hidden tang. 3/16" blade stock, 1-1/8" depth. Handle is black non-slip polymer with lanyard hole, and brass double guard (stamped "20"). For a 30 year-old piece, this knife is in excellent shape. Also comes with a rubber training knife. Comes with custom black leather sheath with velcro closure, by Tex Shoemaker & Sons. Only 331 made with the black polymer handle. The blade does have some light rust staining from 25 years of storage at the Old Gus Peret where Rex was raised. That house is well over one hundred years old and where the knife was stored was partly open to the underneath part of the house so anything in the lower drawers could draw moisture.
This knife comes with a signed (addressed to Albert) copy of Rex's book "Combat Use of the Double-Edged Fighting Knife".
This collection is offered for sale by a member of the Applegate family.
