About the Maker

Steyn, Peter

I was born in Benoni, South Africa on 20th July 1942. A passion for creativity and appreciation of handcrafted items led me to the Knife Making Industry, everything that I had been searching for to satisfy my creative hunger was exposed here. 2004 was my 'workshop building' year and I produced my first knife in 2005. I was awarded 3rd place in a competition for ""Non-Guild Members"" at the 2005 SA Knife Makers Guild Show. By 2006 I was confident enough to display my work at the Durban Easter Knife Show where I was awarded ""Best Hunting Knife on Show"" in the Novice category.

The Knife Makers Guild of Southern Africa accepted me as a voting member in July 2006. An ever-present burning desire to ""break the mould"" has produced some interesting concepts. A unique feature of my blades is the ""Covex"" grind (concave on the Obverse and convex on the Reverse) this ensures an excellent, easy to maintain, edge which is sharpened on the Obverse only.

I look forward to applying my flair to the challenge of Creative Craftsmanship.
