It’s safe to say Benchmade has cemented itself as one of the leading knife manufacturers in the industry, and the Artist Series the Oregon-based company has been doing for the last three years has proved that its innovations in design aren’t limited to steel. The success of the series and its Station Knife has prompted Benchmade to release another collaboration, this time with Montana resident, outdoorsman, and artist Casey Underwood, who the company collaborated with previously on the Pheasant Mini Crooked River series.
The 4010BK-2301 and 4010-2302 Mount Rainier Station Knife honors the beautiful Mount Rainier with two limited edition full-tang multi-use kitchen knives that benefit from a 440C construction backed by Benchmade’s Select Edge tech. Known as the 4010-2302 Mount Rainier Station Knife, the first of the two new artist series models feature a stonewashed finished blade adorned in an Underwood-penned illustration of the 14,411′ mountain in Washington state. The bare blade has been paired with a Blue Canyon Richlite handle with an ivory G10 bolster and a black pivot ring. Christened the 4010BK-2301 Mount Rainier Station Knife, the second version sports a Redstone Richlite handle with a black G10 bolster and an exclusive dark copper pivot ring, but the most notable inclusion is the black diamond-like carbon coating on the blade which contrasts the artwork well.
Both knives are 11” long with a 6” blade and a 5” handle and include a special sheath with Underwood’s same wonderful illustration. An all-around tool for both outdoor and indoor cooking, these knives were designed to be extremely versatile in order to keep things basic. The multiple cutting types offered by the blade mean less clutter in the kitchen or the backpack – and you don’t have to be a station chef to take advantage of that.
