Overview

Description

This folder was designed for those situations where you can’t carry a fixed blade knife.

The NorthmanF folder and NorthmanF Belt Sheath are included.

Although in most situations fixed blade knives are to be preferred over folders, there may be times where a folder is needed. It is for those times we created the NorthmanF. Like our other blades the NorthmanF was designed with combatives and backcountry in mind with edge geometry optimized for thrusting and with a toughness to handle backcountry chores.

One of the main drawbacks of any folder is it’s slower deployment and less secure grip as you are opening the folder. With this in mind, the Amtac Blades NorthmanF comes standard with a belt firesheath so that you have the flexibility to carry this folder in a blade locked open configuration. Carrying the blade in this manner will insure a draw stroke just as secure and fast as your normal fixed blade draw stroke.

Alternatively you can carry the Amtac Blades NorthmanF folded in your pocket when a low profile is desired.

This belt firesheath includes a ferro rod molded into the sheath with a velcro pocket on the back of the sheath and is designed to be worn on your belt.

Photos are a representation and actual product may contain slight variations in finish and appearance.

This version includes marking on the spine and blade.

About the Maker

Amtac Blades

Amtac Blades started as a conversation between myself and my friend the “Northman”. I wanted a fixed blade knife that would fit in my front pocket to replace the folding knife that was currently filling the role of my cutting tool. We talked for a while and then a few weeks later a knife showed up in the mail. Over the next year and a half we continued to test, modify, refine until we had something that met my initial vision. The Amtac Blades Northman. I want to make clear that I was not alone in designing this knife. I provided an overall vision as to what I wanted to see and then guys that are much better than me provided input and technical know how to make this happen. Special thanks to “Northman” actual, Tuhon Tom Kier, and Jake Hoback for providing guidance and technical know how. Also thanks to all of my students that provided feedback and to all of the warriors and soldiers that came before us and collectively passed on their combative knowledge to make us better. Amtac Blade’s owner is Bill Rapier. He is recently retired after twenty years in the Navy, where his duty assignments included several years at SEAL Team 3 and over 14 years at Naval Special Warfare Development Group. Positions held include assaulter, breacher, sniper, team leader, troop chief and military working dog department senior enlisted adviser. He has always been an avid shooter and is heavily involved in combatives.
