Home Products Dauntless G&G Hawk Prototype 1/10

Overview

From the TAD Gear website:

This run has the debut of the new Toggle Detent and Carbon Fiber Slabs

Grant and Gavin, the father and son team behind G&G Hawk, continually push the envelope of innovation and craftsmanship. The working methodology behind G&G Hawk is elegant and refined aesthetics paired with clever mechanisms that render complex problems into simple, beautiful solutions. For example, consider their Grip-Clip pocket clip, the two-piece design functions as a lever which makes opening and closing the clip incredibly simple.

We first launched the Dauntless by G&G Hawk as a custom knife last year and their first run of the new midtech version hasn’t lost any of the details or depth of the original.

Features:
  • The innovative Hawk Lock System, provides easy one-handed operation and a secure, smooth lock.
  • Smooth G10 or carbon fiber slabs on the handle are crafted with a flared boat tail and the stonewashed blade with blackened hardware and two-piece titanium pocket clip complete the knife’s almost mystical aesthetic.
  • The blade is made from highly corrosion—and wear—resistant CTS-XHP steel.
  • The G&G Hawk edition features our signature Dauntless details, including the modified bayonet point with three-quarter swedge, single blade fuller, triple fullers on the handle, and forward choil.
Behind the Scenes with G&G Hawk

The Hawk Philosophy is simple: do what you love and do it differently. You can’t get anywhere by copying anyone.

Grant and Gavin Hawk have been making knives together since 1995 in Idaho City, an old gold mining camp of the mid 1800's. Previously a traveling prospector who lived out of a traditional teepee, Grant began casually making fixed blade knives for a small local market of hunters and horsemen after the decline of the mining industry in the early nineties. His son, Gavin, was right behind him, picking up the craft along the way. As their designs evolved and began to attract the knife world after only a few years, their casual participation grew into one of the industry’s most respected knife design companies. Today, they work out of the same workshop they started in, barn on the outside and sophisticated machine shop on the inside.

Comes with a zippered case. Excellent condition. Prototype 1/10 on the blade.

About the Maker

Hawk, Grant & Gavin
Hawk, Grant & Gavin

Grant Hawk and his son Gavin, of Idaho City, Idaho started making knives in 1994. Grant had just ended a 20 year career as a prospector and manufacturer of mining equipment. "I spent years making everything I needed out of anything I could find," Grant said. "I believe those experiences helped me to see solutions lying below the surface. To me, designing a knife is much like prospecting because it seems more a matter of discovery than an act of creation. The art of the prospector is to discover the unknown through the application of logic, hard work and luck. Whenever unrelated ideas are found to mesh perfectly, luck is playing its part and every prospector knows, it's better to be lucky than smart." After attending the Oregon Knife Collectors Association Show in 1994, Grant and Gavin were not only inspired to become knifemakers, but were determined to make a better folder, the result of which is their custom D.O.G. folder, now available from CRKT in a production model.
