Shipping Policy

Any customers with separate shipping and billing addresses are subject to follow up contact. If no contact can be made, your order will be cancelled. Please understand that this policy is to protect our customers from fraud and theft.

Shipping costs are calculated automatically when you checkout. Orders to P.O. Boxes or military addresses require shipping via USPS.

Orders placed by 3:00pm EST will be shipped the same day. All orders shipped USPS (including Express) may take an additional business day to process and ship. We strongly recommend shipping UPS if you need guaranteed delivery by a certain date.

For our international customers, you must call or email after ordering to arrange for duties/customs and declarations before we will ship your order. USPS Express International shipments with declarations greater than $200, incur an additional $15.00 fee for postage/insurance.

Layaway Information

Layaway Policies

We offer a layaway plan on select products so you may pay for your order over a period of 60 days. Products that are eligible for layaway will show "Layaway Available: Yes" on the product page.

Here's how it works:

The total amount of the order excluding shipping, tax, or fees is divided into three (3) equal payments. The first payment is due with the order, the second payment is due 30 days later, and the final payment is due 60 days after the order.

There is a $15 non-refundable fee for layaway orders. This fee is added to the first payment along with the shipping and any tax. The first payment is made when the order is placed.

Example: Your order total is $300 plus $12.75 shipping and handling. If you select the layaway option, your payments would be:

  • $127.75 (1/3 of purchase = $100 + $15 layaway fee + $12.75 shipping)
  • $100.00 (1/3 of purchase = $100)
  • $100.00 (1/3 of purchase = $100)

If your initial payment is made by credit card, we will automatically process the 2nd and 3rd payments at the appropriate time using the same credit card information. You will be reminded via email that a payment will be charged. If you need to change this for any reason, please contact us.

For payments made other than credit card, payment must be received within seven (7) days of the due date or the order is subject to cancellation. You will receive a reminder via email that a payment is due.

If you wish to complete payment early and have your order shipped, you may contact us at any time during the 60 day period. There is no penalty for prepayment.

Additional products may be added to a layaway order without penalty. A new payment schedule will be calculated based on when additional products are added.

Cancellations of layaway orders are subject to a restocking/processing fee of 10% of the order total (not including tax and shipping costs). This restocking fee is in addition to the $15 non-refundable layaway fee.

Overview

The robust and recognizable design of RJ Martin mixed with the sleek and functional Shirogorov style! The Alutex scale and inlay combined with the ZDI-1016 damascus are ice cold! For those that didnt know, Alutex is an aluminum and glass based mixture that is very similar to carbon fiber in both looks, weight, and durability.. The two materials are layered together and then adhesively bonded to one another. The end result is a super strong, super lightweight material that thanks to the aluminum can achieve a wide array of color options! The handle shape is pure RJ, with a curving profile and single finger groove design. The floating titanium backspacer has robust jimping for extra grip. The scales are cut away at the rear end for the lanyard hole. The titanium lockside has been extensively milled out and windowed for weight reduction. The blade features a long drop point profile with raised, jimped thumb ramp. The blade features a stunning two tone finish, with brushed sating flats and a damascus pattern on the bevels. The blade is tuned to deploy with a very solid press of the flipper tab, just like you would find on one of RJ's custom knives, and deploys lightning fast and smooth on roller bearings. Lots of small details are present as you would expect from Shirogorov. The custom titanium pivot hardware has a two tone tumbled finish. The frame, floating backspacer and machined pocket clip all have a matching matte tumbled finish that ads a subtle contrast. The titanium scale has been milled out under the pocket clip for easier clipping and unclipping from your pocket. The scales have subtle scalloping for extra grip at the spine. The backspacer has been precisely machined to allow the blade to close within its footprint, allowing for the renown Shirogorov ratio of maximum blade size to frame fit.

"I made my first custom knife in 1976, as a teenager. Being an avid fisherman, I loved to read the outdoor magazines, and the pictures in a Sports Afield article about Bob Dozier, peaked my interest. Those dropped hunters were beautiful! My father was an artist, and, I had already built fishing rods, lures, flies, and archery equipment, so I decided to build my first knife. It came out pretty well, and, the next was even better. You know the rest-I was hooked. I was so fascinated by steel and its heat treatment that I decided to become an Engineer. I graduated from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, NY in 1984 with a BS in Materials Engineering. I started life in the professional world as an Airframe Designer with Sikorsky Aircraft in Stratford, CT. Over the next 17 years, I was privileged to work on some of the finest helicopter designs in the world. The S-92, shown below, occupied much of my time during the mid-90’s. I served as the Airframe Co-Design Lead for the cockpit, which was designed in Taiwan as part of a joint venture. The Canopy structure is an all-composite design, made largely of Carbon Fiber and Titanium. I received my first patent on this aircraft, for the cockpit window jettison mechanism. After the S-92, I served in the same capacity on the MH-60S. During this program, high speed machining was introduced as a means to produce components faster and more accurately. I was fortunate to become involved in this effort, and immediately recognized the benefits of CNC technology. I knew I had to have a CNC of my own, and, purchased a machine in 1999. The MH-60S provided me with my greatest design challenge: Designing a cabin floor that incorporated an integral roller system for loading and moving 3000 LB pallets of cargo within the cabin of the aircraft. My experience in making folding knives helped me develop some of the stops and latches that were used. I was fortunate to have Knife making as a second job! Many of the lessons I learned in Knife making helped me solve problems in helicopter design, and vice versa. We actually solved a difficult design issue by using KYDEX, a common knife sheath material, to fabricate some tricky air conditioning ducts! I served as Chief of Design of the MH-60S for two years, before I retired in 2001 to become a full-time knife maker. I cannot imagine a better combination of careers. I was privileged to work with some of the finest people I have ever met, designing the finest aircraft in the world. Now, I am privileged to apply the skills I acquired to design and build some of the finest knives in the world."
