Layaway Information

Layaway Policies

We offer a layaway plan on select products so you may pay for your order over a period of 60 days. Products that are eligible for layaway will show "Layaway Available: Yes" on the product page.

Here's how it works:

The total amount of the order excluding shipping, tax, or fees is divided into three (3) equal payments. The first payment is due with the order, the second payment is due 30 days later, and the final payment is due 60 days after the order.

There is a $15 non-refundable fee for layaway orders. This fee is added to the first payment along with the shipping and any tax. The first payment is made when the order is placed.

Example: Your order total is $300 plus $12.75 shipping and handling. If you select the layaway option, your payments would be:

  • $127.75 (1/3 of purchase = $100 + $15 layaway fee + $12.75 shipping)
  • $100.00 (1/3 of purchase = $100)
  • $100.00 (1/3 of purchase = $100)

If your initial payment is made by credit card, we will automatically process the 2nd and 3rd payments at the appropriate time using the same credit card information. You will be reminded via email that a payment will be charged. If you need to change this for any reason, please contact us.

For payments made other than credit card, payment must be received within seven (7) days of the due date or the order is subject to cancellation. You will receive a reminder via email that a payment is due.

If you wish to complete payment early and have your order shipped, you may contact us at any time during the 60 day period. There is no penalty for prepayment.

Additional products may be added to a layaway order without penalty. A new payment schedule will be calculated based on when additional products are added.

If you wish to complete payment early and have your order shipped, you may contact us at any time during the 60 day period. There is no penalty for early payment.

Cancellations of layaway orders are subject to a restocking/processing fee of 10% of the order total (not including tax and shipping costs). This restocking fee is in addition to the $15 non-refundable layaway fee.

Overview

This bowie by Art Wiman features a clip point polished blade with false top edge, .196" blade stock and 1.992" blade depth, hidden tang construction. The handle has a brass guard and stainless steel butt with a stacked leather grip with red/white/black spacers. Comes with a brown leather sheath. Has some scratches and a small ding in the blade edge, otherwise good condition.

Note from the consigner:

I bought several knives directly from Art Wiman, and like many other makers he did not always brand his blades, especially in the early years. After the formation of the Kiifemakers Guild in 1970 of which Art was an early member he started branding his blades in script. So did one of his students, Jimmy Lile. I do not know the exact year Art started branding his knives with a stamp. However, he often did not stamp his blades even then. He also frequently double stamped his blades and in fact you have listed a folder of mine by Art that was double stamped. I traveled across Arkansas many times and very often stopping by to buy a knife from him. I have some of his knives that were made in the early 70s.

About the Maker

Wiman, Art

Art Wiman was a well-respected bladesmith from Plumerville, Arkansas. He made both fixed blade knives and folding knives. He was one of the early members of the Knifemaker’s Guild. Art Wiman also had a significant influence on other knifemakers, as he taught and helped start quite a few individuals in knife making, including Jimmy Lile. Unfortunately, Mr. Wiman passed away in October of 1999. Arkansas has a rich history in knifemaking, with 12% of the 120 internationally recognized master bladesmiths from or practicing in the state. The state’s contribution to the art of bladesmithing is significant, with the creation of the Arkansas toothpick and the Bowie knife, and the formation of both the Knifemakers’ Guild and the American Bladesmith Society. Art Wiman was a part of this vibrant community and contributed to its growth and reputation. In addition to being a world class bladesmith Art was a world class human being. He was always willing to go the extra mile for anyone he met.
