Shipping Policy

Any customers with separate shipping and billing addresses are subject to follow up contact. If no contact can be made, your order will be cancelled. Please understand that this policy is to protect our customers from fraud and theft.

Shipping costs are calculated automatically when you checkout. Orders to P.O. Boxes or military addresses require shipping via USPS.

Orders placed by 3:00pm EST will be shipped the same day. All orders shipped USPS (including Express) may take an additional business day to process and ship. We strongly recommend shipping UPS if you need guaranteed delivery by a certain date.

For our international customers, you must call or email after ordering to arrange for duties/customs and declarations before we will ship your order. USPS Express International shipments with declarations greater than $200, incur an additional $15.00 fee for postage/insurance.

Overview

This Bowie by D'Alton Holder features a mirror polished blade with false top edge, .254" blade stock and 1.670" blade depth, hidden tang construction. The handle features a nickel silver guard, nickel silver fileworked frame and fittings, stag scales. Comes with a hand tooled brown leather sheath and a zippered case. Also comes with a D'Holder catalog from the early 80s, several letters between D'Alton and the original customer, and an invoice for the original build. Has a couple light scratches, otherwise excellent condition. This knife was made in 1984-5.

About the Maker

Holder, D'Alton

D'Alton Holder was born in Heald, Texas in 1940, was raised in Amarillo and graduated from West Texas State University with degrees in Fine Arts and English Literature. He retired early after 25 years with Diamond Shamrock Corp to become a full time knifemaker in 1988. He began making knives in 1968, joined the Knifemakers Guild in 1973 and was elected to the board in 1976, secretary/treasurer in 1978, President 1982, he served as Vice President 1984. Re-elected to board in 1988 and was elected President again in 1996. Received the Red Watson award in 1982. Named to the NSSF Hall of Fame in 1983. D'Alton is an avid horseman, hunter and fisherman. He prefers to work with natural handle materials and ATS-34. D'Alton has taught over 75 knifemakers, including people like Jim Hardenbrook and Bill Cheatham. Many of his knives are engraved by his wife, Pat Holder. Inducted into the Blade Magazine Cutlery Hall of Fame in 2003. D'Alton passed away in 2022.
