BMHK14715SBK1: 14715SBK-1 AXIS | Benchmade Design
Heckler & Koch Knives by Benchmade
The German gunmaker that makes arguably the best assault rifles in the world (including those used by the U.S. Army's Delta Force) wouldn't license just anyone to make its knives. That's why the HK AXIS series is made by Benchmade in the USA. This comes with D2 steel, ambidextrous dual thumb-stud opener, the patented Benchmade AXIS locking mechanism and the HK mark of excellence stamped on Benchmade quality and design.
AXIS returns to HK in a package that brings new levels of performance. The 14715 AXIS lock folder features a 3.69" D2 clip point blade. D2 is an air-hardened tool steel that offers excellent wear resistance. A good choice for hard use applications. The AXIS lock mechanism combined with the reversible pocket clip makes the 14715 a 100% ambidextrous design. A patented Benchmade exclusive, AXIS has been turning heads and winning fans ever since its introduction. AXIS gets its function from a small, hardened steel bar which rides forward and back in a slot machined into both steel liners. The bar extends to both sides of the knife, spans the liners, and is positioned over the rear of the blade. It engages a ramped, tang portion of the knife blade when it is opened. Two omega style springs, one on each liner, give the locking bar its inertia to engage the knife tang. As a result, the tang is wedged solidly between a sizable stop pin and the AXIS bar itself.
