Shipping Policy

Any customers with separate shipping and billing addresses are subject to follow up contact. If no contact can be made, your order will be cancelled. Please understand that this policy is to protect our customers from fraud and theft.

Shipping costs are calculated automatically when you checkout. Orders to P.O. Boxes or military addresses require shipping via USPS.

Orders placed by 3:00pm EST will be shipped the same day. All orders shipped USPS (including Express) may take an additional business day to process and ship. We strongly recommend shipping UPS if you need guaranteed delivery by a certain date.

For our international customers, you must call or email after ordering to arrange for duties/customs and declarations before we will ship your order. USPS Express International shipments with declarations greater than $200, incur an additional $15.00 fee for postage/insurance.

Master Hattori became 80 years old. In Japan, a person’s 80th birthday is commemorated with a special celebration called 傘寿 / Sanjyu. To celebrate his special anniversary year, and also his proud achievements as a Master craftsman, Hattori has decided to produce a Special Limited Edition Collection of knives called the 傘 San Series. Each item in this special limited edition collection will be marked with a Serial No.

The Hattori 傘 San Series knife collection will feature special, very limited production models, which Master Hattori can no longer produce in large quantites due to the rarity or limited availability of handle materials or blade materials.

 

Master Ichiro Hattori has selected the TV series S.O.G. Bowie knife to be the 31st knife in the Hattori "SAN" Limited Edition knife collection, which celebrates the 80-year anniversary of his birth. He has carefully selected his favorite materials and created an elegant and stylish, premium-quality Custom Combination Handle. Total 35 pieces will be produced, each knife has a serial number engraved on the bolster and a 傘 SAN logo etched on to the back of blade and inscribed on the Presentation Box.

 

The Hattori SAN-31 Limited Bowie Knife is modelled after a famous S.O.G. knife from the Vietnam war era and has a 6-1/4" hollow ground, semi-mirror polished V-Gold  San-Mai stainless steel Bowie-style blade, with a large false edge on the back of the clip point. Elegant and simple, the 4-3/4" "STAY-GOLD Edition" Custom Combination Handle is a real modern beauty (Leather Washer / Brass / Quince Burl Wood / Black Micarta) that features a solid Brass Double Guard / Crossguard and Butt Cap (With Lanyard hole). The knife comes with a Brown leather sheath (With a sharpening stone inside the pocket) and the Gift box has a special Sanjyu ("80-year anniversary") gold label and message.

 

V-Gold San-Mai blade is 7.0mm (9/32") thick and 160mm long, 280mm (11") overall length, Weight 353g

About the Maker

Hattori, Ichiro

Ichiro Hattori is a renowned knife maker in the city of Seki, Japan. Seki is the most internationally well known of several cities famous in Japan for it’s history of cutlery and craftsmen going back some 800 years. He was born into a knife maker family and began his craft at the age of 18 in his father’s factory “Masahiro”, founded in 1932 and still one of Japan’s largest makers of culinary knives as one of the well known “3M”s (Masahiro, Masamoto, Misono). In 1971, Ichiro Hattori started his own business Hattori Hamono K.K. (Hattori Cutlery Co., Ltd.) to pursue his interest in sporting knives.
