Shipping Policy

Any customers with separate shipping and billing addresses are subject to follow up contact. If no contact can be made, your order will be cancelled. Please understand that this policy is to protect our customers from fraud and theft.

Shipping costs are calculated automatically when you checkout. Orders to P.O. Boxes or military addresses require shipping via USPS.

Orders placed by 3:00pm EST will be shipped the same day. All orders shipped USPS (including Express) may take an additional business day to process and ship. We strongly recommend shipping UPS if you need guaranteed delivery by a certain date.

For our international customers, you must call or email after ordering to arrange for duties/customs and declarations before we will ship your order. USPS Express International shipments with declarations greater than $200, incur an additional $15.00 fee for postage/insurance.

Layaway Information

Layaway Policies

We offer a layaway plan on select products so you may pay for your order over a period of 60 days. Products that are eligible for layaway will show "Layaway Available: Yes" on the product page.

Here's how it works:

The total amount of the order excluding shipping, tax, or fees is divided into three (3) equal payments. The first payment is due with the order, the second payment is due 30 days later, and the final payment is due 60 days after the order.

There is a $15 non-refundable fee for layaway orders. This fee is added to the first payment along with the shipping and any tax. The first payment is made when the order is placed.

Example: Your order total is $300 plus $12.75 shipping and handling. If you select the layaway option, your payments would be:

  • $127.75 (1/3 of purchase = $100 + $15 layaway fee + $12.75 shipping)
  • $100.00 (1/3 of purchase = $100)
  • $100.00 (1/3 of purchase = $100)

If your initial payment is made by credit card, we will automatically process the 2nd and 3rd payments at the appropriate time using the same credit card information. You will be reminded via email that a payment will be charged. If you need to change this for any reason, please contact us.

For payments made other than credit card, payment must be received within seven (7) days of the due date or the order is subject to cancellation. You will receive a reminder via email that a payment is due.

If you wish to complete payment early and have your order shipped, you may contact us at any time during the 60 day period. There is no penalty for prepayment.

Additional products may be added to a layaway order without penalty. A new payment schedule will be calculated based on when additional products are added.

Cancellations of layaway orders are subject to a restocking/processing fee of 10% of the order total (not including tax and shipping costs). This restocking fee is in addition to the $15 non-refundable layaway fee.

Overview

This SOG Bowie by Hattori features a satin finished bowie blade with false top edge, .275" blade stock and 1.180" blade depth, hidden tang construction. The handle is stacked leather with white spacers, and stainless steel double guard and butt cap with lanyard hole. Comes with brown leather sheath, original box and papers. New condition.

This year, Master Hattori became 80 years old. In Japan, a person’s 80th birthday is commemorated with a special celebration called 傘寿 / Sanjyu. To celebrate his special anniversary year, and also his proud achievements as a Master craftsman, Hattori has decided to produce a Special Limited Edition Collection of knives called the 傘 San Series. Each item in this special limited edition collection will be marked with a Serial No.

The Hattori 傘 San Series knife collection will feature special, very limited production models, which Master Hattori can no longer produce in large quantities due to the rarity or limited availability of handle materials or blade materials.

Master Ichiro Hattori has selected the TV series S.O.G. Bowie knife to be the 28th knife in the Hattori "SAN" Limited Edition knife collection, which celebrates the 80-year anniversary of his birth. He has carefully selected his favorite natural materials and created an elegant, premium-quality Custom Leather Washer Handle with wood spacers. Only 5 pieces will be produced, each knife has a serial number engraved on the bolster and a 傘SAN logo etched on to the back of blade and inscribed on the Presentation box.

The Hattori SAN-28 Limited Bowie Knife is modelled after a famous S.O.G. knife from the Vietnam war era and has a 6-1/4" hollow ground, semi-mirror polished AUS-8 Molybdenum Vanadium stainless steel Bowie-style blade, with a large false edge on the back of the clip point. The Practical 4-3/4" Custom Combination Handle is made with beautiful Natural materials (Leather Washers / Nickel Silver / Quince Burl Wood / African Blackwood) and features a solid stainless steel Double Guard / Crossguard and Butt Cap (With Lanyard hole). The knife comes with a Brown leather sheath (With a sharpening stone inside the pocket) and the Gift box has a special Sanjyu ("80-year anniversary") gold label and message.

About the Maker

Hattori, Ichiro

Ichiro Hattori is a renowned knife maker in the city of Seki, Japan. Seki is the most internationally well known of several cities famous in Japan for it’s history of cutlery and craftsmen going back some 800 years. He was born into a knife maker family and began his craft at the age of 18 in his father’s factory “Masahiro”, founded in 1932 and still one of Japan’s largest makers of culinary knives as one of the well known “3M”s (Masahiro, Masamoto, Misono). In 1971, Ichiro Hattori started his own business Hattori Hamono K.K. (Hattori Cutlery Co., Ltd.) to pursue his interest in sporting knives.
