Overview
This Tachi comes with NBTHK (Hozon) certification. Type is a T9 Tachi, it has no signature and is in the Echizenzeki Style, from Fukui and from the Edo Kan'ei Period 1624-1643.
It has a beautiful blade with nice visible hamon and an amazing pattern in the steel, .290" blade stock and 1.170" blade depth, hidden tang construction. Has a copper habiki, fileworked and textured seppas, black iron tuba with silver onlays, has textured copper seppas on either side of the tsuba that lay inside the rim, black iron fuchi with gold inlays, menukis under white Tsuka-Ito with white stingray skin, black iron kashira gane with gold inlays. The Saya is black with crushed pearl/abalone shell in black lacquer, black iron fittings and Kojiri with gold inlays.
The blade itself is in beautiful condition with no scratches or oxidation. This blade comes with a Shirasaya, which is how it will arrive to you. The ornamental furniture you see in the pictures also comes with the sword and fits nicely, although it has a little rattle in the tsuba/seppa area. The furniture was most likely made more recently, which is common, but still appears to be quite old, but impossible to say how old. Comes with sword bag. Beautiful sword. Excellent condition. Almost 400 years old. Comes with full documentation which will also be photographed.
