Overview
With a tactical knife design knife evoking the vibe of feudal Japan, this is not the katana or wakizashi of samurai movies and your older brother's bedroom shelf. This compact fixed blade has an upswept point, lightweight black stock for a thin piercing tip. The Unmei is a capable belt-knife with the design and strength of a tactical knife that RMJ Tactical is famous for.
With an overall length of 8" the Nitro-V blade is extremely hard with an HRC of 59-60, which lets it hold a razor-sharp edge and resist dulling, cut after cut. Nitro-V steel was developed as a cutlery grade steel by adding nitrogen and vanadium to the forging process to increase hardness and corrosion resistance. Nitro-V has a tighter grain than many other steels, making it ideal for keeping a sharp edge, and plenty of chromium to give it stainless properties. For a knife like this, you can expect Nitro-V to hold up to a wide range of punishments and keep its edge.
The tungsten Cerakote finish improves its hardness as well as even more corrosion resistance while giving it a tactical look and reducing reflection. The blade is 4" long with a Kwaiken style that gives it a decent slicing profile that is incorporated nicely with the .130" thickness of the blade stock. The G10 3D machine sculpted handles give you a lightweight, sure grip in any climate or condition. The full-tang construction combines the handle to the blade with a nice finger choil that feels just right at the midway point of the knife. Light jimping on the thumb rest of the blade improves your grip and control as well. A Kydex sheath with adjustable straps gives you a wide variety of carrying options. At 3.5oz, this is a lightweight knife that truly packs a punch.
