Overview
Giving new life to the classic trapper design, the Tidioute #73 Scout Trapper has a square end bolster, iconic two blade construction and top-notch Great Eastern Cutlery build quality. Originally built for trappers and fur traders, the trapper knife has become a mainstay for anyone looking for a versatile full size folder for the outdoors or daily use. This version comes with satin finished blades, one drop point and one spey, and African Rosewood covers.
Blade: Satin finished 1095 carbon steel is delivered in the trademark two-blade combo: one drop point and one spey blade to handle a variety of tasks. Each blade opens with a satisfying snap thanks to the moderate spring tension of the slip joint construction with a half stop for added safety. Both blades open via a classic nail nick and are unadorned except for standard tang stamp marks.
Handle: Built on a traditional brass liner and pin construction, the stout handle sports polished nickel silver bolsters and handsome African Rosewood covers for a solid grip and warm feel in the hand. The full length back springs protect the blades when closed and deliver solid slip joint operation with good walk and talk. A polished Tidioute swell bar shield is fit to the front cover.
1095 Carbon Steel: Popular, simple carbon steel used extensively by production and custom knife makers. Low abrasive wear (edge retention) due to low carbide content and easy to sharpen to a fine edge. Not corrosion resistant and will rust without proper care.
