Overview
The Tidioute model 83 Tascosa is a classic single blade lock back jack knife with an iconic hunter style clip point blade ideal for a variety of daily cutting tasks. Quality Great Eastern Cutlery construction makes this a solid choice for users and collectors. This version comes with a satin finished blade and Mexican Bocote wood covers.
Blade: Satin finished 1095 carbon steel is delivered in an iconic clip point profile often found on larger hunting knives. The clip point is still versatile in this smaller daily carry size with solid piercing performance and good slicing thanks to a full flat grind and thin blade stock. A great choice for detail work of fine cutting tasks, the Tascosa is capable of heavier work thanks to the lock back construction.
Handle: Built with traditional brass liner and pin construction, the compact handle sports handsome Mexican Bocote wood, polished nickel silver bolsters and badge shield. The handle offers a solid grip and has a hollow brass pin for lanyard attachment. The full length back spring protects the blade when closed and forms the lock back mechanism for safe, secure use.
1095 Carbon Steel: Popular, simple carbon steel used extensively by production and custom knife makers. Low abrasive wear (edge retention) due to low carbide content and easy to sharpen to a fine edge. Not corrosion resistant and will rust without proper care. Some makers use a differential heat treat process which delivers a harder edge and tougher spine for enhanced performance.
