About the Maker
Kendrick, Sean
Sean Kendrick is a knife maker from Ripley, Ohio. He’s been making knives for about 10 years and went full time in August of 2007. Sean has been collecting knives since he was about 7 years old and over the years he had come up with ideas for knives that he wanted to see but that he couldn’t afford to have made by someone else. When he turned 21 he decided to simply start making them himself. Around that time he saw in article in Tactical Knives on custom knife maker Mike Franklin of Hawg Knives. As serendipity would have it, Mike Franklin only lives about 20 minutes away from Sean in Aberdeen, Ohio. The two connected and Franklin began to mentor him in making the knives that he’d dreamed of seeing.
Mosier, David
"I started collecting knives when I was 10 years old and became involved in martial arts when I was 12. As an Army MP my interest in tactical and self-defense weapons was spurred on even further. In 1996 I decided that I would learn to make knives myself. It has taken a lot of study, trial and error, and a few disappointments, and the learning process is on-going, but I am now proud of the knives I make and I am confident that they will serve you, the customer, to your utmost satisfaction. My passion is tactical type knives and most of my knives are built to be carried and used on a daily basis, so I try to incorporate a size and functionality that applies accordingly. All my knives are made without using CNC equipment or laser blanking. I do all my own blanking, sheath making, heat treating and cryo freezing. I currently use S30V, ATS-34, 154CM and D2 steels."
Hinderer, Rick
In the mid 1980’s Rick Hinderer began his knife making journey making art knives in a small 14′ x 18′ turkey coop with none of the modern amenities, like heat or running water! Art knives are a far cry from the tactical scene which Rick is so deeply entrenched in now. Over the years his meticulous attention to knife design and knife making, coupled with his real world experience as a Fire Fighter / EMT sets him apart from the rest. Rick’s design philosophy is deeply rooted in his experience with using his knives as part of his first responder tools. That catalyst of change from art knives to hard use tactical was after Rick joined the rescue dive team. He really began to look at knives and designs more as hard use tactical tools than works of art. Rick began changing over from old world knife making techniques to modern CNC precision manufacturing. With the combination of designing art knives, and his real world experience as a first responder, this unusual perspective allows him to design hard use tactical folders that are not only aesthetically pleasing to the eye, but extremely comfortable in the hand. All of Rick’s products are engineered to go the distance when it counts the most whether it be when life is on the line, or you just need a good cutting tool.
