Collins, Blackie
Blackie Collins helped found The Knifemakers’ Guild in 1969, the same year he was granted his first cutlery patent. According to Blackie, he has over 60 patents on knife mechanisms, as well as many design patents. In 1970, he crossed over to the factory side to produce the first authorized reproductions of Remington folders for Remington Arms Co. In 1972. he designed the first line of Smith & Wesson knives. In 1973 he founded the first-ever knife magazine, The Blade Magazine, known then as The American Blade. Inducted into The Blade Magazine Cutlery Hall of Fame in 1996. Passed away in 2011.
