Beets, Marty
My wife Sandy and I are a knifemaking family. I make the handmade knives and Sandy makes the custom hand-stitched sheaths. After living in several parts of the U.S. I decided to move to British Columbia and recently retired after 29 years as a biologist with the B.C. Fish & Wildlife Branch for the Cariboo-Chilcotin Region. Sandy was born in Chilliwack, British Columbia and called that home until moving to the Cariboo in 1979.I will always be grateful to my Dad for teaching me how to hunt and use a knife and I am thankful to my good friend and previous working colleague, Bob Lay, for helping me make my first handmade knife in the mid 1980's.My first knife sold in 1988. Today all work is done in our shop, including heat treating and tempering and each knife design is field tested. As we strive to always use only quality material, making a knife that is functional, feels good to hold and has an aesthetically pleasing look and since each knife and sheath is handmade, we do not make a large number of knives each year, but we are proud of and confident in each one we do make. Each style of knife we make is named for a geographic site or location in the area surrounding where we live and these names are special to us.We hope you enjoy our knives.
