I started making knives in 1999. The first 3 knives I made were with Damascus steel that Ed Schemp gave me. Normally you start out doing stock removal, the kindergarten level, but I started at the college level with Damascus. I like making folders the most, I do make fixed blades as well. My background in knives started at a very early age, and for 40 years I was a meat cutter, that gives me a strong advantage in knowing how a knife should feel in your hand and how It should work. I like natural materials for the scales, fossil ivory, exotic wood and pearl. My knives are ALL sole authorship, meaning I do all the work on each knife. I make my own Damascus, heat treating and grinding. Knives are the oldest known tool to man and they have come a long way from the sharp rocks early man used. My work history includes killing beef for all the local ranchers, hogs and sheep. In the fall I processed deer and elk, as hunting is big here in Montana. Thanks for stopping and taking a look. Any questions, feel free to contact me. Don Bell. EMAIL: [email protected]
