Layaway Information

Layaway Policies

We offer a layaway plan on select products so you may pay for your order over a period of 60 days. Products that are eligible for layaway will show "Layaway Available: Yes" on the product page.

Here's how it works:

The total amount of the order excluding shipping, tax, or fees is divided into three (3) equal payments. The first payment is due with the order, the second payment is due 30 days later, and the final payment is due 60 days after the order.

There is a $15 non-refundable fee for layaway orders. This fee is added to the first payment along with the shipping and any tax. The first payment is made when the order is placed.

Example: Your order total is $300 plus $12.75 shipping and handling. If you select the layaway option, your payments would be:

  • $127.75 (1/3 of purchase = $100 + $15 layaway fee + $12.75 shipping)
  • $100.00 (1/3 of purchase = $100)
  • $100.00 (1/3 of purchase = $100)

If your initial payment is made by credit card, we will automatically process the 2nd and 3rd payments at the appropriate time using the same credit card information. You will be reminded via email that a payment will be charged. If you need to change this for any reason, please contact us.

For payments made other than credit card, payment must be received within seven (7) days of the due date or the order is subject to cancellation. You will receive a reminder via email that a payment is due.

If you wish to complete payment early and have your order shipped, you may contact us at any time during the 60 day period. There is no penalty for prepayment.

Additional products may be added to a layaway order without penalty. A new payment schedule will be calculated based on when additional products are added.

If you wish to complete payment early and have your order shipped, you may contact us at any time during the 60 day period. There is no penalty for early payment.

Cancellations of layaway orders are subject to a restocking/processing fee of 10% of the order total (not including tax and shipping costs). This restocking fee is in addition to the $15 non-refundable layaway fee.

Overview

This Katana by David Goldberg features a hand rub satin finished upswept tanto blade with hamon and fullers, .285" blade stock and 1.272" blade depth, hidden tang construction. The handle has an engraved sterling silver habiki and kashira, carved sterling silver tsuba, stingray skin tsuka with black leather tsuka ito and sterling silver menuki. Comes with a black "Ho wood" (magnolia wood) saya with water buffalo and sterling silver fittings. Excellent condition. Comes with a black sword stand. Comes with an email from David Goldberg about the sword:

Yes, I definitely made it! All of the fittings are dragon motif. Menuki-fuchi/kashira and tsuba are all sterling silver, as well as the habiki. I remember making that unique Habaki. The only one like that i ever did with that lovely little protruding points top and bottom. Tskuka ito is "Ultra suede" called "Tsunami" wrap. It is full "Maki" the tsuka is of course a wooden handle, completely wrapped in "same" fully (natural stingray skin) The "Saya" is made of "Ho" wood (magnolia). A traditional wood and that is used traditionally in Japan. The fittings on the saya are water buffalo horn. The blade looks to be of high carbon steel, not traditional (tamahagane) sand-iron. The "Hamon" (hard edge/temper line) looks to me to be consmetic? Although it could be genuine, I need to see it closer. Judging from the "bo-Hi" (large groove) it was an early piece.

His first blade smithing teacher was C. Robin Hudson a master smith of mosaic Damascus and modern art knives. He then continued his study with the guide of master sword maker Michael Bell Sensei, who is still creating wonderful works of Japanese art today. Kinzan then found a traditionally licensed sword smith in Japan, Fusa Taro under the Kanefusa lineage. He continues his relationship with him, to study with and guide him . Although he is a master level swordmaker himself, Kinzan visits Japan regularly to further his skills and refine his techniques with his colleagues and teachers. Kinzan's Gold Mountain Forge produces contemporary master level Japanese weaponry. Everything from small self defense carry ""Zanto"", ( a term he coined for his ""Ready Knife"") to the longest traditional Daito sword. He specializes in unique blade designs, with individually unique metallurgy and hardening techniques.
