About the Maker
Daley, Mark
I am a knife maker based in a small town in Ontario Canada. I specialize in handcrafted artistic knives. Throughout school I always excelled in the artistic topics, from water color painting to electives such as stained glass and silver smithing. This led to me heading down the creative route in my career ambitions. I decided that I wanted to be a Goldsmith and went to Georgian College in Barrie for Jewelry and Metals. After this I landed my desired job and began working as a Goldsmith in an upscale jewelry store in Toronto, Canada. After a few years I decided to leave in order to pursue my own gold smithing clientele and have made several exquisite pieces since. I have been working as a goldsmith for over 15 years. While I was at College, I made a few knives which I really enjoyed doing. I have always been interested in knife making but it has only been the last few years that I became serious about pursuing it. For me knife making is a nice mix of the sculptural aspect of jewelry and the accuracy of machining. I think of the knives I make as jewelry. But it is also very important that they perform well.
