Shipping Policy

Any customers with separate shipping and billing addresses are subject to follow up contact. If no contact can be made, your order will be cancelled. Please understand that this policy is to protect our customers from fraud and theft.

Shipping costs are calculated automatically when you checkout. Orders to P.O. Boxes or military addresses require shipping via USPS.

Orders placed by 3:00pm EST will be shipped the same day. All orders shipped USPS (including Express) may take an additional business day to process and ship. We strongly recommend shipping UPS if you need guaranteed delivery by a certain date.

For our international customers, you must call or email after ordering to arrange for duties/customs and declarations before we will ship your order. USPS Express International shipments with declarations greater than $200, incur an additional $15.00 fee for postage/insurance.

Overview

This Kozuka by the late Phil Hartsfield features a chisel ground, satin finish blade, 1/8" blade stock and 3/4" blade depth, hidden tang construction with samurai wrap and Turk's head knot. Comes with leather wrapped metal sheath with paper lining. Excellent work. Great condition.

Note from current owner:

"This knife has an unusual left-hand chisel grind as was my preference. Last year I sent it to his son for sharpening and refurbishing.  It was Phil Jr. that added the swedge to the spine, as both he and his father began adding that feature to their blades some time after mine was made."

About the Maker

"I have been a fulltime knifemaker since 1977. The metal of my blades is high speed tool steel and during the tempering they are stress relieved three times to bring them to the ultimate in strength with a Rc 60-61. I hand grind and strop each blade to a razor edge - that lasts. Since my blades are designed for use, not display, I do not mirror polish, rather my blades are bead blasted to produce a scratch resistant, non-reflective satin finish. Each handle is shaped in harmony with the hand, no matter how you hold it, it fits. All my designs are full tang." Phill passed away in 2010.
