This Double Pocket Locket knife is sized between Joe's models #6 & 10. This Double Pocket Locket lockback Auto by Joe Kious features a hand rub satin finished dagger ground blade with false top edge and nail nick. The handle has an engraved stainless steel frame with a stainless steel backspacer. The handle has been engraved with gold inlays by Brian Hochstrat with a “Legend of Arthur” theme. The jousting scene is done in perspective; it takes you from being a spectator and puts you in the saddle. King Arthur’s coat of arms is depicted in the upper panel as well as on the tack on the horse. The opponent, a member of his round table and eventual enemy is Mordred, his coat of arms can be seen on his shield. On the backside of the knife, we have the collision, horse falling backward, broken lances etc... and Mordred’s coat of arms is portrayed, where Arthur’s was, on the flip side. There is a profuse use of gold inlays as well as engraving and gold inlay on the edge of the frame. - Gwynevere and Merlin are portrayed in the hidden pockets and are accented with 18k pink and 14k green gold as well as yellow gold. Gwynevere is standing behind Excalibur, which is stabbed into the ground. Gwynevere, has a green gold cloak, pink gold hair, with rays of light coming down behind her, Excalibur has gold hardware and some scrollwork on the blade, and on the opposite side Merlin is seen casting a spell in a swirl of wind. Merlin has a gold belt and bag, a green gold staff with a pink gold crystal on top, background and lower foreground are swirling wind. Brian chose an Ivy style ornament, like that which grows on English castles to fill the negative space. Nice lockup and blade seating. Excellent condition. Comes with a zippered case.
