Overview
This tanto by Francis Boyd features a hand rub satin finished blade with nice hamon, .208" blade stock and 1.190" blade depth, hidden tang construction. The handle has a textured silver habiki, wood grip and saya. Close examination of the blade shows a very fine grain pattern from many fine folds in the steel. Excellent condition. The tang of the blade has his makers mark. Comes with a purple sword bag and a zippered case. Comes with an issue of "The American Blade" Volume II Number 3 from November of 1977. On page 38 there is an article about Francis Boyd, "The Sword-Maker of San Francisco". He made all pieces of this knife (hibachi, blade and shirasaya)
