Overview

Eric and Sal Glesser designed the Spyderco Para 3 to meet demand for a smaller size of one of their most popular USA made models, the ParaMilitary 2. The Para 3 offers many of the same features in a more compact, sub-3” blade design. A great size for EDC in the field or office, this compression lock folder is small but mighty, able to handle your daily cutting tasks with ease.

CQI: Constant Quality Improvement — Updated to CPM-S45VN

Blade: Fully flat ground stonewashed CPM-S45VN comes in an iconic straight spine clip point profile with a clean slicing plain edge. The blade opens via the ambidextrous large trademark RoundHole riding smooth on the durable bronze washers. Jimping at the thumb rest and index finger choil allow for superb control for fine tasks.

Handle: Peel ply textured, chamfered black G10 scales house inset skeletonized stainless liners, one forming the Compression Lock mechanism. A generous palm swell, index groove and pinky hook offer comfortable ergonomics and a secure grip for most users.

Carries via a four position, stainless steel hourglass clip.

CPM-S45VN: An evolution in the S30-series of steels from Crucible, S45VN shows improved edge retention and corrosion resistance relative to S35VN with a slight reduction in toughness. Also considered an upgrade to Elmax with similar edge retention with better hardness, corrosion resistance, toughness, and a finer carbide structure (better sharpness).

Compression Lock: Similar in construction to the Walker Liner Lock, the Compression lock uses a leaf style spring cut into the handle liner. The tang of the spring wedges between the blade tang and stop pin (or anvil pin) for exceptional lock strength, ease of operation and added safety, keeping fingers clear of the blade path during disengagement closing of the knife.

Comes with original box, papers and extra pocket clip.  Comes with a set of Metonboss Alien Black milled titanium scales. Has a few light scuffs otherwise the knife is in Excellent condition.

About the Maker

Spyderco
Spyderco

Spyderco was founded in 1976 by Sal and Gail Glesser. Initially, the company focused on selling their first product the Tri-Angle Sharpmaker™, primarily at fairs and trade shows around the country. In 1981, the Glessers put down roots in Golden, Colorado and introduced the first Spyderco folding knife. That knife pioneered the concept of a round hole in the blade for one-handed opening, a clip on the handle for carry at the top of the pocket, and the option of a serrated edge for aggressive cutting performance. Those features revolutionized the knife industry and literally defined the form of the modern folding knife. Since then, Spyderco has steadily grown to become one of the leaders in the cutlery industry. In addition to a worldwide distribution network and manufacturing resources in the U.S., Japan, Taiwan, Italy, and China, our innovation has also earned us an impressive portfolio of patents, trademarks, and industry awards. More importantly, it has allowed us to earn the trust and loyalty of countless thousands of dedicated knife users around the world—an audience to whom we are extremely grateful.
