Overview
This Collins and Co machete is known as a Cutacha, which were dress machetes with a bend toward fighting vs tool work. The Elephant models show up in the early 1900's, and continued through the late 1930's, when the looming war changed production needs and made it hard to obtain certain materials (Germany was a big supplier of horn scales). It was the last of the animal handles introduced, with the various wolves and birds coming before it. This one coms with a Collins and Co No.13 leather scabbard. Bases on the little research I have done, this seems to be common.
"S-2-25" is part of a production date code for either the blades or complete models, as I've seen similar codes ending in 27, 32, 34, etc....
Has some scratches and light patina, the horn scales have some chewed up spots, likely from bugs, otherwise good condition for its age.
