Overview
First of all, this set of staff and knives is spectacular. It was, as we understand it, made by the "Official Armorer" to an actual king in India.
Let's start with the staff. It is two pieces and unscrews in the middle. It is made of steel and is fully engraved head to toe. They are two completely integral pieces with ebony wood inlays and hollow tubes. The top has a flip top compartment with a carved turtle. The opposite end has a locking mechanism that allows you to remove the metal walking stud, and replace it with an axe, sickle, or fighter blade. 56" overall in its walking staff configuration. Has a few light scratches, otherwise excellent condition.
If you unscrew the staff, it becomes half the size and can be used this way as well. Comes with a ball end that screws on where the top end of the staff came off of. The end of the staff has a locking mechanism to remove the walking stud and replace it with either the axe head, sickle blade, or fighting blade. You can use the staff in its full length with all of the attachments as well.
The Axe Head, made from Damascus, has filework and carving, Has engraving. The rear side of the head opposite the blade has a lanyard bail that unscrews to reveal a small compartment. The Axe Head attachment can only be put on the staff, it does not go on the knife handle. Has a few light scratches and patina, otherwise excellent condition.
The Sickle Blade, made from Damascus, has a fileworked spine, .205" blade stock and 1.349" blade depth, has fileworked Damascus guard. Has some light scratches and patina, otherwise excellent condition.
The Fighter Blade, made from Damascus, has a fileworked spine, .207" blade stock and 1.359" blade depth, has fileworked Damascus guard. Has some light scratches, otherwise excellent condition.
This set also comes with a handle with matching locking mechanism. The sickle blade and fighter blade can both fit into this handle, but the axe head does not fit into this handle. It has an engraved steel frame with ebony wood scales and nickel silver pins, lanyard bail at the butt. Has lockback style mechanism to remove/attach blades. The handle has a few light scratches, otherwise excellent condition.
The handle also comes with a matching sheath. The sheath only will work with the fighter blade. The sheath is made from engraved steel and ebony wood with a mokume belt stud. The sheath has a lever latch that locks the blade into the sheath. Excellent condition.
This is an incredible set and I wish we had a little more information on it. There is no doubt, 1000's of hours were spent on this and it is amazing. There are so many different configurations you can do with this set. Long staff with axe or sickle, while also carrying the fighter. Just stunning. Overall, has some light scratches, patina, otherwise excellent condition.
I PROMISE THE PICTURES DON'T DO THIS JUSTICE!
