Overview
We went with S35VN stainless steel made @Crucible which is a high-end martensitic stainless that is high in Carbon, Vanadium, and Chromium . S35VN is designed to offer a great balance between toughness, hardness and corrosion resistance. The handle material is composed of 6AL4V Titanium due to its unique characteristics. The DX2 features true ergonomics for all essential cutting tasks and has no "hot spots" for a comfortable feel in the hand even during long periods of use. Milled out weight reduction slots provide an excellent balanced feel from front finger safety choil of the knife. The frame lock also features a steel lockface insert that can be found on the internal backside of the frame on the locking mechanism offering both solid and smooth lock-up with no "Lock Stick" over long term use. A lock bar insert can reduce wear, maintain lock position, and reduce the need for service versus a traditional lock setup. The steel lockface insert features a ceramic detent ball and plays a combined role as an over travel stop to prevent the frame lock from accidently over extending when unlocking the folding knife to close the blade. The ceramic detent ball glides extremely smooth versus traditional steel ball detents. The pocket clip, rear standoff and screws on the DX2 are also titanium due to its durability and corrosion resistance.
The DX2 does not just stop there, it also provides a 6AL4V Titanium Liner on the scale side for added durability with less weight. This also allows for interchangeable colored scales we will be offering. 6AL4V titanium is 40% lighter than steel while providing the same benefits of a strong high strength steel making the DX2 weigh in at around 5 ounces. This allows for a comfortable weight in the pocket for every day carry. The DX2 features a caged ceramic ball bearing system within the pivot for smooth opening action. The knife was designed to be simple yet appealing focusing on a forward pitched blade angle to get the cutting edge right were you need it the most while not interfering with your knuckles or hand. The flipper tab is designed to be comfortable when used in both the push down and push forward position with the forefinger. We are currently only offering the DX2 in right hand tip up configuration but plan to do a release launch for left handed individuals in the very near future.
