Overview
Trilobites ("three-lobes") appeared in the Early Cambrian period and flourished throughout the lower Paleozoic era. They were among the most prolific life form on Earth. During the Late Devonian extinction, all trilobite orders, with the sole exception of Proetida, died out. The last of the trilobites disappeared in the mass extinction at the end of the Permian about 250 million years ago.
Scientists have argued for many years about the cause of extinction of the trilobites. With this whimsical pendant, Tom proposes on explanation that the scientists may have missed. The pendant shows a "fossil" trilobite formed from steel and copper. Tom's theory? It seems that the trilobites didn't go extinct after all, but simply ran down. Like all great scientific discoveries, knowledge ends up revealing even more questions. For instance, who wound them up in the first place?
Tom Created this one-of-a-kind pendant combining engraved, carved, antiqued and textured 1018 steel with antiqued and textured copper gears. The pendant is suspended by a 19" antiqued Argentium Silver chain (92.5% silver alloyed with germanium). This mix provides a silver very similar in working and wearing properties to sterling silver, but very tarnish resistant.
Comes with COA. Excellent condition. 27" Chain and 2" tall pendant.
