Layaway Information

Layaway Policies

We offer a layaway plan on select products so you may pay for your order over a period of 60 days. Products that are eligible for layaway will show "Layaway Available: Yes" on the product page.

Here's how it works:

The total amount of the order excluding shipping, tax, or fees is divided into three (3) equal payments. The first payment is due with the order, the second payment is due 30 days later, and the final payment is due 60 days after the order.

There is a $15 non-refundable fee for layaway orders. This fee is added to the first payment along with the shipping and any tax. The first payment is made when the order is placed.

Example: Your order total is $300 plus $12.75 shipping and handling. If you select the layaway option, your payments would be:

  • $127.75 (1/3 of purchase = $100 + $15 layaway fee + $12.75 shipping)
  • $100.00 (1/3 of purchase = $100)
  • $100.00 (1/3 of purchase = $100)

If your initial payment is made by credit card, we will automatically process the 2nd and 3rd payments at the appropriate time using the same credit card information. You will be reminded via email that a payment will be charged. If you need to change this for any reason, please contact us.

For payments made other than credit card, payment must be received within seven (7) days of the due date or the order is subject to cancellation. You will receive a reminder via email that a payment is due.

If you wish to complete payment early and have your order shipped, you may contact us at any time during the 60 day period. There is no penalty for prepayment.

Additional products may be added to a layaway order without penalty. A new payment schedule will be calculated based on when additional products are added.

If you wish to complete payment early and have your order shipped, you may contact us at any time during the 60 day period. There is no penalty for early payment.

Cancellations of layaway orders are subject to a restocking/processing fee of 10% of the order total (not including tax and shipping costs). This restocking fee is in addition to the $15 non-refundable layaway fee.

About the Maker

Simeon Custom Knives
Simeon Custom Knives

"My name is Jamie Simeon. I grew up in rural Louisiana hunting, fishing and enjoying the outdoors. I began collecting custom knives in 1993 and have had a passion for knives as long as I can remember. My job in the pipeline industry has taken me all over the world and in and out of many great knifemakers shops. I have learned from some of the very best. In 2009 I began making my own folders in Tennessee. Each knife I create is made with these things in mind: Is this knife rugged and durable and is it a piece that can be treasured from father to son to grandson? Is this knife a piece that I would be proud to carry and show? Is this knife a piece that is built with the absolute best material available? Is this knife a truly custom piece that I am proud to put my name on?"

Begg Knives

Todd Beggs' love for knives resulted in his first successful attempt at creating one in 1983, when he was in junior high school. When Todd was 20, he joined the military as an NBC Recon team member and found himself using tactical knives in the field on a daily basis, inspiring him to want to create knives that were functional, unique and aesthetically pleasing. He consumed everything he could about the construction, metals and materials and design of knives and credits Bob Loveless’s book, 'How To Make Knives', as the spark that lit the fire. In 1998, Todd completed a Machine Shop Technology Program from San Juan College in Farmington, NM. Todd lives in Dallas, Texas as full-time knifemaker. He also holds the position as a Board Director of the Knifemakers’ Guild (2022 President) along with other seats in various knife organizations.

Weeks Knives, Ryan
Weeks Knives, Ryan

I have always been passionate about knives… As a young boy my fascination grew from playing Cowboys and Indians with the neighborhood knuckleheads. Sticks found their way under my belt taking the form of a stag handled Bowie. With my trusty 6 Shooter (cap gun) strapped to my right hip I terrorized the surrounding back yards. Hiding behind anything that would provide adequate cover, waiting to ambush an unsuspecting adult or pet that happened to be in the area. As an adult, knives became something that I used on a daily basis. I gained an appreciation for the skill and art found in many custom knives. Dad was right, that Gerber started what later became a very expensive habit of buying custom knives! I started collecting high end custom knives from many famous makers. Over the last few years of making knives I have become friends with some of those amazing makers. They have played a huge role in the type of knives I like and make on a daily basis.

Onion, Ken
Onion, Ken

In November of 1991, Ken Onion began making knives under the guidance of Stan Fujisaka. After his first session with Mr. Fujisaka, Ken knew he was hooked and ordered his Burr King grinder. Ken has always been fascinated by high speed machinery with precision tolerances. His background as a jet mechanic in the Marine Corps. and later as a robot mechanic helped to hone his technical skills. Furthermore, Ken is blessed with a talent for design. The combination of these two gifts set the groundwork for the creation of the SPEED SAFE mechanism in 1997. The youngest ever inductee into the Blade Magazine Hall of Fame in 2008, he is recognized as one of the most innovative and successful knife designers of all time. In 1996 he created the first commercially successful assisted opening mechanism, and 20 years later unveiled his award-winning Field Strip Technology. As the designer of the successful Eros™ folder series, as well as the award-winning Hi Jinx™, Ken never seems to be at a loss for ideas.

VanderMeulen, Jeff

"Each blade is handmade by me in the USA using manual machines. I specialize in hard use tactical folders with the best materials I can get my hands on. My current blade steels are RWL-34, stainless steel Damascus, and San Mai. I use various materials that include Titanium, Carbon Fiber, Zirconium, MokuTi, Timascus."

GTC Custom Knives
GTC Custom Knives

The GTC logo and the man behind it, Brazilian Gustavo Thome Cecchini - that's Gus to us - is well known to everyone in the knife world and has been working on knives since roughly 2004. Born 1974 in Brazil from Italian descendants, Gus had a balance of country and city life, which later led to his main field of study and profession, Agronomic engineering. Gus took this newfound knowledge and moved to the family's farm where he worked with agriculture and cattle. During Brazil's long and dry winters, Gus took up knife making as a hobby, learning along the way. Gus made use of the limited tools and steels available on the farm, having little more than a drill press and making his own belt grinder out of spare farming equipment and parts. Self-taught and eager to learn, Gus scoured the Internet as well as available books for literature on knife making. Soon after, Gus was awarded Best New Maker at the 2006 Sao Paulo Knife Show. Gus took the next logical step and began making folders. With the same learning-by-doing philosophy, Gus engineered his own custom pivot-bearings which he patented and shared with the community. Gus applies this innovative practice constantly and has added many firsts to his folders. Unique assisted-opening (2008), Front Framelock with straight-cut lock-bar (2009), a lock-bar limiter screw, a hidden-clip design that won him Best Innovative Design at the 2012 USN Gathering. In 2014 Gus added a Flush Clip design to his bag of tricks. This spirit of technical innovation is only part of the GTC formula. A look at the designs from the aesthetics reveals another level of Gus's creativity. It's no surprise that his work has graced the cover of Blade Magazine with the caption of "Dress Tactical Folder". Gus uses numerous, varied materials, shaping them into works of modern art. Not only do his creative combinations please the eye, they all come together to function as a single, seamless entity with mechanical tolerances that boggles the mind. Gus is always striving to improve his knives, never afraid to test new theories, always working with the latest available materials, technology and techniques. Gus achieves subtle two-tone surfaces simply by varying bead-blast material from glass to ceramic. Gus takes advantage of the best materials in the community and at the same time, is trying his hand at forge-welding his own steel. The final element to the GTC formula can be found in the minutest details. Screw heads, thumb-studs are custom-cut; clips are harmonized with the blade material, coarse jigging or fine filework satisfy both the aesthetic and functional requirements. Innovation, design, attention to detail and accuracy are the cornerstones of the GTC formula.

Ochs, Eric
Ochs, Eric

"When I was six years old I received my first knife from my Dad and learned how to use it. A year or so later I got a small Swiss Army knife and have rarely gone a day without carrying and using a knife since. Having grown up primarily in the country with family that was active in the great outdoors there was frequent opportunities to find uses for a knife. Over the years I have collected both fixed and folding knives and put them to use in favorite activities like hunting, hiking, fishing, kayaking or working outdoors. In early 2007 I started designing and making knives and am a fulltime knifemaker. Much of my work now is with folding knives but since the beginning I have used the stock removal method. I cut and grind out all of my own blades, handles and frames by hand using only the highest grades of knife/tool steel and titanium for folding knives. Primarily I use CPM S30V, Elmax, CPM S35VN, CPM 154, and CPM3V. I also work with Damascus steels. I send all of my knife blades to Paul Bos to be heat treated and get a cryogenic double or triple temper to insure the very best edge holding and blade toughness. I believe this is the best, most consistent way, to heat treat the stainless and tool steels I work with in order to maximize the potential of the steel. In 2010 I made my first folding tactical knife and have been enthusiastically developing more models since. I find great inspiration from the work of Bob Lum with his exacting fit and finish and clean simple ergonomic designs. There has also been influence in my work from the books and work of Bob Loveless and Bob Terzuola. Also, it has been a great privilege to work with and call Wayne Goddard a personal friend and mentor. In my designs I strive for simplicity and balance that incorporates functional use and quality materials and craftsmanship. I believe the best knives can be achieved by pulling together the elements of form and function while creating works for enduring use."

Hinderer, Rick
Hinderer, Rick

In the mid 1980’s Rick Hinderer began his knife making journey making art knives in a small 14′ x 18′ turkey coop with none of the modern amenities, like heat or running water! Art knives are a far cry from the tactical scene which Rick is so deeply entrenched in now. Over the years his meticulous attention to knife design and knife making, coupled with his real world experience as a Fire Fighter / EMT sets him apart from the rest. Rick’s design philosophy is deeply rooted in his experience with using his knives as part of his first responder tools. That catalyst of change from art knives to hard use tactical was after Rick joined the rescue dive team. He really began to look at knives and designs more as hard use tactical tools than works of art. Rick began changing over from old world knife making techniques to modern CNC precision manufacturing. With the combination of designing art knives, and his real world experience as a first responder, this unusual perspective allows him to design hard use tactical folders that are not only aesthetically pleasing to the eye, but extremely comfortable in the hand. All of Rick’s products are engineered to go the distance when it counts the most whether it be when life is on the line, or you just need a good cutting tool.

Nell, Chad

Chad was fortunate to gain his custom hand made knives knowledge and skill under legendary knife makers Steve Johnson and John Young. He watched and learned, with great admiration as those two masters created works of art. He has been a full time maker since 2011.

Elishewitz, Allen
Elishewitz, Allen

"I was born in Texas where I have lived most of my life, but I also lived in Indonesia, Taiwan, Singapore and Thailand. I have been interested in knives ever since I was very young. I have been practicing different martial arts over the past 30 years like Okinawan Te, Thai Boxing, Northern Shaolin and Kali. These trainings, along with my experiences as a Recon Marine, gave me the perfect background to design both defense and utility knives. During the time I spent at 4th Recon C Company, I was a Team Leader in charge of a Deep Recon Platoon. I am trained in Artillery Call for Fire, Naval Call for Fire, SOTG, Amphibious Recon and many in-company trainings. I have a Bachelor Degree in Criminal Justice and an Associate Degree in Fine Arts. I started making knives part time while I was in College and decided to become a full-time knifemaker after graduating. I have been making knives since 1988, constantly researching, refining and developing this craft. I am a member of the American Knifemakers Guild since 1994. At that time I was the youngest Guild Member. My work has been awarded several prizes: “Best Utility knife” at the 1992 Lone Star Knife Show in Dallas “Beretta award” at the 1995 Guild Show Fighting Knife Magazine’s “Knifemaker of the Year” award in 1996 “Best High-tech Knife” award at the 2001 SICAC in Paris, France. Ralph, Darrel
Ralph, Darrel

In 1987 Darrel began making knives and the knife industry was forever changed for the better. His designs are not only artistry in motion but imagination come to life for those of us in love with cutting edge weapons. The first knife he ever made was a Butterfly patterned flipper. His first knife sale was five years later in 1992 at a knife show in Cincinnati. It would become the catalyst for over two decades of designs that would set the knife world on fire and raise the stakes for other custom knife makers. In a sense he turned up the pressure and lit a couple of fires in the tactical folder industry. His knives soon garnered the attention of the U.S. Government resulting in a contract to make switchblades for the military. Darrel passed away in 2021.
