Overview
A knifemaker since 2008, Jackson has worked at Tharwa Valley Forge since 2016 making custom knives and teaching classes. Inspired by Mastersmith Jerry Fisk, Jackson aspires to constantly push his creative limits and grow as an artist. Rumble was honored as a Journeyman Smith at the 2019 Blade Show in Atlanta. Along with his journeyman smith credentials, Rumble received the prestigious Joe Keeslar Award for Best JS Knife Presented. This Integral Hunter was part of Rumble's JS test set. When a maker tests to become a journeyman, they create five knives that are the height of their work at the time. These five knives are then judged by established masters to determine if the maker's work is up to snuff. Often, prospective journeymen spend 2-3 times as long creating these five knives as they would generally do, as they know that their work will be poured over by the masters. These five knives are generally considered to be among the most collectable knives of a maker's career. The satin finished trailing point blade was forged to shape from W1 carbon steel. The blade, tang, and bolsters are fully integral. Creating an integral guard in a handmade knife shows particular skill at the forge and Rumble has done this to perfection. The tang is distal tapered providing excellent balance. The handle is formed from ivory paper micarta secured using 8 stainless steel pins. The pins were meticulously hand domed. Black G-10 liners add a beautiful touch of contrast to the ivory toned scales. The elegantly contoured handle is extremely comfortable and is seamless to the tang. Comes with an Elephant hide sheath made by Kenny Rowe of Rowe's Leather. Excellent condition.
