The goal of the project was to produce a truly exceptional knife embodying the quality, performance, and aesthetics that define the 5.11 brand. After a year in development at the Strider manufacturing facility in Southern California, the project was an overwhelming success. The Strider SMF is 100% American made, and marks the first commercial knife production using Carpenter Technologies CTS® B75P Particle Metallurgy Grade Steel. The 4” blade is hollow ground by hand, and features a classic Spear Point profile, a thumb hole, an oversized pivot pin, twin bump stops, and jimping along the spine for enhanced control. The scale handle is crafted from solid glass epoxy laminate with a rough peel texture for positive grip under any conditions. Peripheral edges are quarter-rounded to match the handle scale, and the internal structure is custom pocket-milled to mate the blade directly to a 3mm thick titanium foundation. An aggressive flame finish and a prominent 5.11 logo machined into the handle provide a bold look that is sure to turn heads. Imagined and engineered for utilitarian performance and eye-catching appeal, the Strider SMF knife is an unparalleled workhorse, an unfailing battlefield companion, and, with only 511 knives made, an heirloom-quality collectible.
