About the Maker
Morotti, Attilio
Attilio "Atti" Morotti was born in Bergamo in 1957; He lives in Villa di Serio, a village in the Bergamo area at the beginning of Val Seriana, is married and has a daughter. He started working at a mechanical workshop of oleo-pneumatic constructions since he was very young, carrying out various tasks, including directives. He has dedicated himself to different sports (athletics, gymnastics, tennis, downhill skiing, mountaineering and cross-country skiing); since 1993 he has practiced archery at the Compagnia Arcieri di Malpaga "Bartolomeo Colleoni" - Bergamo. Before becoming interested in the cutlery, this passion for archery had led him to dedicate himself to the construction of wooden arches; the value of this experience is still today witnessed by the arrow in its logo. Another great love of Attilio Morotti has always been the motorcycle; as a mototurist in the company of his wife he consumed all the roads of Italy and most of Europe. In the world of knives, it was thanks to friends collectors who invited him to visit an exhibition where the creations of master cutlers were presented. The impression he gets from it is enormous; the skill of these artisans, the quality of these products with such high finishes amaze and fascinate them. From that exhibition comes the strong desire to devote himself to this activity and immediately begins the construction of a fixed blade knife. He finished making his first knife on December 13, 2002 and continued the construction of fixed knives for a little over a year before starting the folding route. Without specific schools, thanks to the stubbornness, the desire to do and the love for craft achievements, also taking advantage of the advice of great experts (Emilio Albericci, Eligio Ambrosioni, Silvester and particularly Claudio Volpato, knife maker of great generosity and competence with which establishes a relationship of collaboration) comes to make leaflets of recognized quality that June 2, 2007 earned him the title of "Master of the Italian Knife Guild".
