About the Maker

Booth, Philip

Philip comes to knifemaking through the fine arts. He is an award winning painter, printmaker and knifemaker. At 10 years old he made his first knife by hammering a 16 penny spike and wrapping the handle with tape. Not much of a knife but at 10 years, a huge accomplishment. Philip sold his first knife in 1991 and is now a full-time maker and voting member of The Knifemakers' Guild. All the knives are made entirely by hand using the metal reduction methods on a one-at-a-time basis. This gives the maker ultimate control and makes each knife unique. Materials for each knife are laid out before each knife is begun, much like a painter laying out his pallet. Knives can be designed around a particular piece of pearl or ivory, and many take advantage of a certain pattern in the Damascus steel. In this way close attention can be paid to pattern, texture and color.

Cousino, George

My career as a die-maker, which began in 1969, has provided me with the knowledge and skills required to handcraft custom designed knives. I started making knives in 1981 and was accepted in the Knifemaker's Guild in 1983 and continue to be a voting member. Cousino knives have been featured in editions of Knife World, Blade Magazine, Knives Illustrated, and many other gun and knife magazines.

Dilluvio, Mike

I have been making custom knives for over 25 years. I am a former long time voting member of the Knife Makers Guild. I started making custom knives back in 1989 and for the first 10 years or so, made fixed blades alone. I started making custom folders right after that as it proposed a new challenge. I never looked back. This is just a part time hobby for me as I have to maintain my full time job. Maybe when, or if, I can ever retire that my hobby become my full time occupation.

Sakmar, Mike

Quality is the main focus of Sakmar Enterprises and one reason for so many of our repeat customers. Mike has been making custom knives since 1990 and mokume since 1997. His perfectionism and attention to details are apparent in everything he does. Sakmar Enterprises was established when Mike realized his custom knife and mokume making could not be considered a "hobby" any longer.
