Weinand, Gerome
Gerome Weinand sold his first knife in 1982. He crafted the blade out of chainsaw bar and gave it a micarta handle assembled from scraps. From that day on Gerome was a knife maker. Born and raised in North Dakota, Gerome moved to Montana in 1955 after coming home from the Korean War. He lived in Great Falls until his return to civilian life in 1957, when he settled in Missoula. GMW offers a variety of different knives from a variety of materials. On his hunting blades he uses D2 steel, Carbon Damascus and Stainless Damascus steel. He makes cutlery and filet knives from Swedish steel and leather cutting knives for saddle makers out of D2. His handle work ranges from sheep horn to dinosaur bone. Gerome?s always on the hunt to find new and interesting materials for his handles. Gerome prefers to run a personal business, so if you?re looking for custom knives drop him an email or give him a call.
