Guimarao, Adrian (Abril Knives)
My name is Adrian, and I am an enthusiastic hobbyist and part-time knifemaker. I am the proud founder and owner of Abril Knives, a small workshop located in the suburbs of Buenos Aires, Argentina. Each project I undertake presents an exciting opportunity for me to acquire new techniques and expand my knowledge. What started as a simple hobby is now a genuine passion and a complementary profession. Since the tender age of 10, I have been captivated by the artistry of knives and blades. In 2016, I took the leap and established Abril Knives, armed with only a few basic tools, and as I started selling my initial creations, I made strategic investments in a diverse range of tools and machinery. To further refine my skills, I had the privilege of learning from very known Argentinean knifemakers At Abril Knives, we take immense pride in our 100% handcrafted approach, ensuring that every knife we produce is a unique creation. Our flagship is the forging of diverse Damascus patterns, often incorporating delicate copper elements into our blades. When it comes to handles, we hold a profound preference for natural woods. However, we have also ventured into stabilized woods and hybrid wood/resin compositions. To complement our exceptional blades, we entrust the creation of our sheaths to the talented hands of my wife, Gabriela, who manages the "Abril Leather Department." Her remarkable expertise and artistic flair culminate in beautiful and distinctive sheaths for our knives, made from cow leather. For the second consecutive year, I have had the privilege of attending the prestigious Blade Show in Atlanta. This event provides a remarkable platform for networking with fellow knifemakers and acquiring exceptional materials that elevate the quality of our final products. To stay connected with my ever-growing community, I actively showcase the majority of my creations on my Instagram Page, where I proudly engage with an audience of 33,000 followers.
