I was born and raised in Cleveland, Ohio and moved to Phoenix at the age of 18. I attended the Arizona Culinary Institute and went on to cook at several high-end restaurants. Cooking led me to a career as a professional knife sharpener in which I sharpen tens of thousands of knives per year. I prefer traditional waterstone sharpening because good stones and good technique properly respect the craftsmanship of a quality blade. In my decade long quest to continually grow in sharpening, knife repair, and metallurgy, I was introduced to ABS Master Bladesmith Ray Rybar. It was under Ray’s tutelage that I fell in love with the art of bladesmithing. I joined the American Bladesmith Society and I am working my way toward the Master Smith rating. I am passionate about timeless knife designs that balance artistry and functionality.
