Birch, John
Veteran of the South African Border war and having seen some action in Angola. I later qualified as a Tool and die maker which gave me my background of precession I use in my knife making today. Having worked in my trade for a decade, the great outdoors called and I became a professional hunting and fishing guide. I hunted for almost fifteen years and then for six years I sailed the East coast of Africa doing fishing charters on my 38 ft catamaran. I was always using a knife for something and soon developed a passion for a good blade. Presently, I live at the mouth of the Great Fish River in the Eastern Cape of South Africa, where I have a tiny workshop. Using high quality steel and indigenous hardwoods from Africa, bone and horn, I handcraft my knives and I try to put the passion of Africa into each blade. I supply knives to various hunting outfitters and taxidermists here in South Africa.
